OdexV3 has been built using Microsoft’s® latest products and technologies, namely; Windows Server 2008 R2 (SP1), SQL 2008, Visual Studio 2010, Virtual Earth (Bing), Dot.Net 4, Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), Windows Workflow Foundation (WWF), Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), and Windows Mobile 7. OdexV3 can be deployed as a Windows Click Once application, or as a web based browser application, thus providing ultimate flexibility and security. OdexV3 client application is capable of running on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows7. Odex has looked beyond Microsoft® in one area, and that is by incorporating Google Maps® as the primary outdoor mapping system for OdexV3.
A fundamental shift was made when designing OdexV3 and that was to move the application from a purely Web application (V1&V2) to a primarily Windows based application. This on the surface might sound like a regressive step considering all the hype around cloud computing, however client’s data security (and thus their competitive advantage) ranks as our number one priority. In our view our clients closed internal network is in most cases more secure that a server in a public farm. This said, because OdexV3 is built in WPF there is a seamless migration from running the application on the desktop to running it in a browser, or in fact Odex running the application for and on behalf of the client in a hosted environment.
